Overview

KZ Castor in Egypt

The KZ Castor is a dual-dynamic-driver in-ear monitor with a genuinely clever trick: four physical tuning switches on each earpiece that unlock up to 16 different sound profiles. Two stacked 10mm dynamic drivers split the work - one dedicated to bass, one to mids and highs - so the low end stays powerful while the midrange and treble stay clean and separated, all with the natural, cohesive timbre that comes from an all-dynamic design.

Professional acoustic filters give independent two-stage bass and two-stage treble adjustment, so you can shape the Castor from a balanced, reference-style sound to a warmer, bass-forward tuning and back again. It ships in Harman-tuned and Improved Bass factory versions, and from either starting point the switches let you fine-tune to taste - it genuinely feels like several IEMs in one.

Comfortable ergonomic resin shells, a detachable 0.75mm 2-pin cable (available with an inline microphone), and easy drivability from any phone or dongle round it out. Delivered across Egypt with cash on delivery.

Tuning switches

Four switches on each earpiece. The lever sits up when that switch is on, and down when it is off. The small lever in the box flips it.

The large graph above stays the factory position. Each small graph is that position minus all switches off, from the same rig. The flat line is zero.

Up is on. Down is off. The number under each slot is the number on the shell.

  2. Turn on switch 1+2 Bass up 2 dB Sub-bass +1.7 dB versus all off. Super Review, both channels.
  3. Turn on switch 1+2+3 Bass up 2 dB, and the mid and high up 1 dB KZ Acoustics Laboratory.
  4. Turn on switch 3 Mid-high frequency up one level
  5. Turn on switch 3+4 Mid-high frequency up two levels Upper mids and treble about +3.3 dB versus all off. Super Review, both channels.
  6. Turn on all switches Overall frequency up about 2 dB Sub-bass +1.7 dB and treble about +3.4 dB versus all off.

This is KZ's card for the bass edition. The 1 dB and 2 dB figures are from KZ's laboratory chart, which also shows all four switches as about 2 dB across the band. The drawn lines are Super Review, both channels. The large graph is the factory position, switches 3 and 4 on.

Key features

Why it plays above its price

01

Stacked dual 10mm dynamic drivers

Two dynamic drivers per side - one dedicated to bass, one to mids and highs - for a fuller, more layered sound than a single driver.

02

Dedicated bass + mid/high drivers

Splitting the work across two dynamic drivers keeps the bass powerful while the mids and treble stay clean and separated.

03

Up to 16 tunable sound profiles

Four physical tuning switches per earpiece - two for lows, two for highs - let you dial in as many as 16 different sound signatures.

04

Two-stage acoustic filters

Professional acoustic filters give independent 2-stage bass and 2-stage treble adjustment so you can shape the exact balance you like.

05

All-dynamic natural timbre

Because both drivers are dynamic, instruments and voices keep a natural, cohesive tone without the timbre mismatch some hybrids have.

06

Clean, controlled bass

The dedicated low-frequency driver delivers deep, textured bass that stays tight rather than boomy.

07

Detailed but smooth treble

The mid-high driver gives clarity and air while the tuning filters keep the highs from turning harsh.

08

Ergonomic resin shells

Contoured shells sit flush for comfort and a stable seal during long listening or gaming sessions.

09

Detachable 0.75mm 2-pin cable

Swap or upgrade the cable freely, add a Bluetooth or DSP adapter, or replace a worn cable without replacing the earphones.

10

Microphone option

Available with an inline-mic cable so you can take calls and chat in games out of the box.

11

Strong passive isolation

The sealed in-ear design blocks outside noise for commutes and noisy rooms, with no battery and no ANC hiss.

12

Easy to drive

Both factory tunings run easily from a phone, laptop or USB-C dongle - no amplifier required.

13

Tip-tunable sound

On top of the switches, swapping ear tips further shifts the balance - wider bores open the treble, foams add isolation and warmth.

14

Serviceable and upgradeable

The universal 2-pin connector means you can fit upgrade cables or a Bluetooth adapter down the line.

15

Unmatched tuning flexibility for the price

Few earphones near this price offer this much genuine acoustic control - it is like several IEMs in one.

Questions

KZ Castor — frequently asked

Does the KZ Castor need an amplifier?+

No. Both factory tunings are easy to drive from phones, laptops and USB-C dongles. A dongle DAC can add a little clarity but is not required.

How do the tuning switches work?+

Each earpiece has four switches - two adjust the lows and two adjust the highs - giving up to 16 different sound profiles. Set both earpieces the same and experiment to find your preference.

Which version should I choose - Harman or Improved Bass?+

Pick Harman for a more balanced, reference-style sound, or Improved Bass if you want a warmer, punchier low end. Either way, the switches still let you fine-tune from there.

Does it have a microphone?+

Yes, if you choose the mic-cable version - it adds an inline microphone for calls and gaming. The plain version is audio-only and you can add a mic later with any 0.75mm 2-pin mic cable.

Is it good for gaming?+

Yes - the dual-driver clarity and adjustable tuning make footsteps and cues easy to place, and the mic-cable version lets you chat.

Is it a hybrid with balanced armatures?+

No - it uses two dynamic drivers rather than balanced armatures, which gives a cohesive, natural timbre while still separating bass from mids and highs.

Can I upgrade or replace the cable?+

Yes. The 0.75mm 2-pin connector is a widely supported standard, so you can fit upgrade cables, balanced cables, or a Bluetooth adapter.

Which ear tips should I use?+

Size for a firm seal first - the seal drives both bass and isolation. Wider-bore tips open the treble; foam tips add isolation and warmth, and they pair well with the switch settings.

Do I need to burn it in?+

No. Any change from burn-in is subtle, so you can use it straight out of the box and tune it with the switches instead.

What is included and what is the warranty?+

The earphones, a detachable 2-pin cable, silicone tips, a tuning guide and documentation. Backed by 14-day cover against product defects with genuine-unit verification and cash on delivery across Egypt.
